I am currently playing on the Ragnar Hayn violoncello (2023), a replica of the “Duport” Stradivarius 1711, ex-Rostropovich.
After just two months since its completion, the new cello recently made its concert début on the Debussy Sonate and Shostakovich Trio no. 2. With such drastic differences in musical style, the cello exhibits its wide range of dynamics and array of timbres, which enable the player to realize his ideals.
The Ragnar Hayn cello possesses the finest draftsmanship in the Stradivarius tradition, from the selection of wood to the varnish. It is rare to find such an instrument that fuses the beauty in its appeal and sound — it is a joy to play.
